Integrates toll-free numbers for emergency services like police, fire, medical care, women’s helpline, roadside assistance and more.
Truecaller, a caller identification app will be adding a couple of new features to its app which includes number scanner, Scan and Pay and Fast Track Number. The company will roll out the update through the upcoming Android Update 8.45 in the next two weeks.
Number Scanner is an interesting feature that will allow users to scan a number directly from a business card, website, straight sign, shop fronts or anywhere you need to quickly look up a number or store it to your contact rather than manually keying the number. To do it, it will require access to your smartphone's camera.
Also, the company will integrate its recently launched service Truecaller Pay through Scan and Pay feature. Truecaller will allow anyone in India to send and receive money securely over their mobile phone, courtesy Truecaller’s latest partnership with ICICI Bank. Coming to the partnership with ICICI Bank, Truecaller aims to power its app ecosystem with the new UPI based mobile payment service. Truecaller Pay which is introduced in Truecaller 8 will allow one to create a UPI ID instantly, send money to any UPI ID or a mobile number registered with the BHIM app. Further, It will also enable users to recharge their mobile number from within the Truecaller app itself. Moreover, any Truecaller user, including non-ICICI Bank customers can link their bank account of any bank (participating in UPI) to create a UPI id and instantly make payments safely and securely.
Fast Track Number is another feature that will see the daylight, and it exclusively meant for India. In this one can access toll-free numbers for emergency services like police, fire, medical care, women’s helpline, roadside assistance, as well as essential categories like banks, couriers, airlines, railways, and insurance, without an internet connection. All integrated directly into the app, accessible by the user without an internet connection. The said numbers can be retrieved through the search bar of the app.
Truecaller has been making one announcement after another in the recent past. In August had also announced that it is integrating Google Duo in its application, which will allow users to make video calls directly through the Truecaller app.
