The Samsung Galaxy C8 has been the subject of a number of reports and leaks recently. Today, the company has officially launched the device at an event in China. The Galaxy C8 is basically a Chinese The phone comes as the company’s third smartphone to flaunt a dual camera setup at the rear after the arrival of the Galaxy Note8 (first impressions) and Galaxy J7+. The device also marks the arrival of the dual cameras to the Galaxy C family. The device looks identical to the J7+ and shares more or less the same spec sheet, so it appears that the C8 is basically a Chinese version of the former.
The Samsung Galaxy C8 is a mid-range smartphone. The phone flaunts a premium metal unibody build and a fingerprint sensor embedded into its home button. In addition, the device has a facial recognition feature, which apart from unlocking the device, also lets you open secure applications.
Coming to the highlight of the Samsung Galaxy C8, the phone gets a 13-megapixel RGB camera sensor at the rear, accompanied by another 5-megapixel monochrome shooter. The main camera has an aperture of f/1.7, while the other has an f/1.9 lens. The cameras also feature an LED flash and full HD video recording support at 30fps. For selfies, the phone has been provided with a 16-megapixel shooter with an aperture of f/1.9. The handset also gets a front-facing LED flash.
As for the other specs, the Samsung Galaxy C8 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, and boots Android 7.1 Nougat. The phone is powered by a 2.39GHz octa-core processor of unknown make. The device comes in two RAM and storage configurations – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. The storage can be further increased up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card. The connectivity department includes 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS. A 3,000mAh battery completes the list of the specifications.
The Samsung Galaxy C8 is being offered in three hues – black, gold and pink. However, there’s no word on the phone’s pricing at the moment. It is expected to go on sale in China soon.
