In March, Xiaomi launched its most affordable smartphone till date in India called the Redmi 4A (review) for Rs 5,999. The phone brought a 5-inch HD IPS display, a Snapdragon 425 SoC and a 13-megapixel camera for a budget. Now the company seems to be all set to unveil the successor to the Redmi 4A called the Redmi 5A. Ahead of the unveiling, the phone has been spotted on the Chinese certification agency TENAA’swebsite, which has revealed the handset’s full specifications and images.
As seen in the photos, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A will feature a slightly different design than the Redmi 4A. The phone will have a plastic design with capacitive touch buttons for navigation. The device will not sport a fingerprint sensor, just like its predecessor. The handset will have a speaker at the rear and volume rocker alongside the power button on the right side. One of the available colours for the device will be silver gold.
As per TENAA, the specs of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A won’t be very different than the Redmi 4A. The phone will offer a 5-inch HD TFT display, and will be powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, mated to 2GB of RAM. The storage capacity on board will be 32GB, which will be further expandable via a microSD card. The camera department will include a 13-megapixel primary shooter with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front shooter. The connectivity features will include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. A 3,000mAh battery will keep the Android Nougat-powered offering running.
There’s no word on the Xiaomi Redmi 5A’s pricing at the moment, although it should be similar to the Redmi 4A. We’ll update you if Xiaomi confirms the device.
